David Melendez serves as the Director of Business Operations at Abacus Financial Strategies, where he oversees business operations, process improvement, and strategic initiatives that support the firm's continued growth and exceptional client service.
David brings more than a decade of experience spanning financial services, operations, customer experience, and leadership. Before joining Abacus, he worked at Charles Schwab in Retirement Plan Services based in Austin, Texas, managing retirement plan operations, ERISA compliance, payroll processing, census administration, and implementation support for employer sponsored retirement plans. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for improving operational efficiency, strengthening client relationships, and delivering high quality service.
His professional background also includes experience in banking and brokerage client services, entrepreneurship, healthcare administration, and business operations, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on organizational management and client focused solutions.
David earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business from Texas A&M International University and holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and is passionate about developing efficient processes, building high-performing teams, leveraging technology and AI to improve business operations, and creating exceptional experiences for both clients and employees.
At Abacus Financial Strategies, David works closely with executive leadership to help shape the firm's long-term vision, optimize daily operations, strengthen vendor partnerships, implement scalable business solutions, and ensure clients receive the highest level of service.
